Colony of Parks!

Janakpuri is one of the biggest planned residential colonies in the continent! It consists of both DDA flats and private houses – Kothis! It’s an affluent area and is quite popular amongst West Delhiites. Various commercial spaces, government offices and other businesses are housed here.

I work with Bharti Airtel and have been living in this place for last 4 years. I enjoy swimming and photography. The area has everything nearby so almost everything is accessible. Transportation is also not an issue unlike many other places. You can work as well as relax in this place. I dislike the waste management and parking place. District centre has almost everything so nowhere else to go. Variety of options including metro, cab and bus service are there to commute. The coolest place to live in West Delhi!

I just shifted to Indonesia and can say that after living in Janakpuri, one can't live anywhere else bro! There is a lot of greenery!! Well there are atleast 5 parks in my 1 km radius. We generally play sports in the evening and roads are wide enough to even ride bicycles. Also proximity to Dhaula Kuan makes it a central location. We do have terrible parking issues in our area. Also, it's not the best area in terms of cleanliness but we have Uttam Nagar bus terminal near by and 2 metro stations also. Other than that there are autos and rikshaws almost at every corner. In terms of eateries, Mithlesh is famous for eggs and Pishori for his tandoori chicken. Other than that B-Block market (Also known as 'Manjeet' ka ilaka') has about 10 pick up restaurants in line. Luckily, only one of them is vegetarian. :P Do try 'Italian Pasta station' near C-4E market for amazing affordable pastas.

The grocery shops are available nearby and transit facilities of buses are available but it's crowded, noisy and unsafe to some extent.

I would call Janakpuri West Delhi's Nehru Place! I have recently moved to this area to our new house. It's been more than two years that I have shifted to this area in A4C Block. I am an architect, working with CPWD, Govt. of India. This area is basically a residential hub & commercial hub for a lot of companies and institutes. There are a lot of residential blocks which have been arched out well and all blocks consist of independent houses. The best part about this place is basic utility shops are located around every block. My place is opposite to Posangipur Market, which makes it very easy to get basic stuff also there are shops on the main road for other utilities. Local transportation is easily available, the buses to Ring Road are available on the walking distance of 5 mins and metro is also 10 mins away. This area is a little congested in the way the independent houses are build. Power cuts are a major and frequent issue in this area. The authorities responsible for electricity repairs are inaccessible. The facilities are okayish in this area in terms of electricity, the roads right outside my house gets very congested because of the market proximity and traffic. Commuting options are autos & rickshaws to reach metro & bus stands. District Centre & C4E market are by far the most popular hangouts for shopping and good food; it has options for kids as well as families.

I'm a student of SRCC, been here for around 2 years. Janakpuri mainly houses nuclear families in large houses! There are good schools here and malls such as District Centre and Pacific Mall to hangout. The area is a bit overcrowded; metro, autos and cabs are the most common means of travelling around.

In & Around

There are a lot of great places to be eating at in Janakpuri. In the famous District Center itself, you get a variety of regular food chains of the likes of McDonalds, KFC, Yo China, Pizza Hut and Berco’s! The Delhi Durbar and Moti Mahal make for good family dinner outings! Every block of Janakpuri has something special to offer you. A-Block’s China Hut stands in the same light as that of B-Block’s China Fort!

Meet Shivali!

Janak Puri, New Delhi

I am a native of West Delhi and have lived in Janakpuri for 22 years now. I enjoy cooking, dancing and talking.

The neighborhood needs more improvements, the greenery is beautiful, but the garbage problem and the speed breakers and roads could be better. The eateries and hangouts aren't that cool either, you need to go outside of Vikaspurti for that. Commute is okayish though.

I have been living in this area since I was born. I know each and every place in my area. It has the coolest crowd and environment. I love the parks in my area. Every colony in my area is managed properly. There is no disturbances. No outsiders are allowed in the particular colony. Security, water supply, power supply and other amenities are being provided to everyone residing in my area. No issues related to scarcity is being raised in Janakpuri area. C4e market , district centre are the hubs or hangout places for the natives of this area. Metro , buses ,rickshaws, e-rickshwas and autos are available 24x7.

I was born and brought up in this area itself, it's peaceful, the streets are good and the crowd is superb. I really dislike the traffic. Eatouts like Pind Balluchi and Over the Top are really good so are the facilities and commute options around this area. The Lounge and Pubs are also a great attraction here
