Janakpuri is one of the biggest planned residential colonies in the continent! It consists of both DDA flats and private houses – Kothis! It’s an affluent area and is quite popular amongst West Delhiites. Various commercial spaces, government offices and other businesses are housed here.
There are a lot of great places to be eating at in Janakpuri. In the famous District Center itself, you get a variety of regular food chains of the likes of McDonalds, KFC, Yo China, Pizza Hut and Berco’s! The Delhi Durbar and Moti Mahal make for good family dinner outings! Every block of Janakpuri has something special to offer you. A-Block’s China Hut stands in the same light as that of B-Block’s China Fort!
I am a native of West Delhi and have lived in Janakpuri for 22 years now. I enjoy cooking, dancing and talking.
Serenity in disguise!
Janakpuri means food! It has a variety of options for eating out. Street food, high end restaurants and cafes. We have it all. Also, don't be jealous but my place is 3 way park facing. So the view is amazing when it rains. It is kind of perfect for people who enjoy morning walks and sports.
We have Bittoo Tikki Wala (BTW) and Ujala Tikki Wala (UTW) giving each other competition. UTW wins for me atleast. We have Pudding and Pie for cakes, Bubble Tea cafe for continental and Hilton for expensive dinners. Recently opened Delhi Hatt is also fine for an evening stroll. Momos are available at every corner though Sighri is known for its tandoori momos. You can also check Tummy Section for shawarmas! Also, do try 'Italian Pasta Station' for awesome pastas at amazing prices.
The crowd can be improved ! There is barely any young blood in Janakpuri. I personally don't like the mentality of people in my locality. There is huge generation gap actually :-)
Other than that I am still looking forward to having better cafes here that serve beer. The ones that do aren't any good. All other facilities are great! From A to Z all amenities are available in our area. Rikshaws and autos are present just outside the main gate. We have a new metro setting up near by which will be connected to South Delhi directly. Currently we have 2 metro stations on the blue line.
