South Campus manages to merge a jostling young college going crowd with the upmarket South Delhi inhabitants, as if they never were different. South Campus, unlike its northern counterpart, is scattered all over the South of Delhi. North Campus people say that they can never have a “campus feeling”, but people here don’t care because they get to experience much more than that.
Being in South Campus means being in the vicinity of one of the greatest finds of Delhi in the past few years – Hauz Khas Village. It also means you can quickly go and have a bite of Shahpur Jat’s Rainbow Bakery or the soul melting cheesecakes of Vasant Kunj markets. Aurobindo market and SDA market are always full of IITians, Qutub Institutional Area students and Delhi University peeps. There is a LOT to eat here.
I'm an Ex-student of Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University. I lived in a hostel for three years opposite Satya Niketan. I enjoy cricket, debates, piano, and table tennis.
The student market of South Campus
It is a good hang out area filled with energy and a positive vibe from youngsters flooding the market post classes. with reasonable number of restaurants and dhabas offering a variety of mouth watering delicacies over a broad price range, the market caters to almost everyone's needs and monetary limitations. Breifly describing, it is more of a second home for students living in the locality.
It is really dirty area and the streets badly maintained with bad sewage layouts. The eateries can get unhygenic at times. For food there is Idli King, Chawrangee rolls, Cafe 101, dude food, QD's, juice centres, barrista, Cafe Coffee day, etc. Other hang out places like snooker cafes and a park are also present.
It is really dirty area and the streets badly maintained with bad sewage layouts. The eateries can get unhygenic at times. Auto rikshaws are almost always available. Bus station is not too far away and with the new metro station coming up right opposite, commuting to and from this place will become very convenient. Overall, a place worth visiting for the street food and to experience the student vibe of Delhi University.
