Alternate spaces!

South Campus manages to merge a jostling young college going crowd with the upmarket South Delhi inhabitants, as if they never were different. South Campus, unlike its northern counterpart, is scattered all over the South of Delhi. North Campus people say that they can never have a “campus feeling”, but people here don’t care because they get to experience much more than that.

Cariappa Vihar is the place to be, it is the greenest place in Delhi and the safest too. Not too many places to hang out, just a CCD and some local restaurants. Commuting facilities are quite good though no metro facilities hamper travels a bit. I'm a journalist with ANI and have lived here for a year now.

I am pursuing Psychology honours from Jesus and Mary College, DU and been living here since the last 3 years or so. The area is safe. It's close to a market area where all basic eminities are available. There are two markets nearby - Gopinath and Sadar Bazar; however they only have those small/dhaba type eating places. There are two good eating joints- Kites, a restaurant in Gopinath and Agarwal sweet shop, again in Gopinath. There can be a lot of traffic on the Delhi Cantt road during peak hours. Auto and bus facility is available, but there is no metro. The closet metro is the airport express- Dhaula Kuan.

I'm a student of The Institute of Chartered Accountant of India. I like the crowd here but there is water problem. Domino's, Pizza Hut, etc. are available as well. Commute facilities are okay-ish.

I'm not really a local and am in town just for an internship I got here a few days back. Satya for me has an awesome crowd, cheap restaurants and good college hangouts like Stuti restaurant and Shanghai among others, However it is a little filthy and has no metro conveyance. Buses and autos are available though.

I lived in this area for 3 years. During those years, I was a student of Sri Venkateswara College. I'm presently an IB-Marketing student of SIIB, Pune. I love to play cricket, watch T.V., read etc. Though the area is small but you will find everything here from major food joints to small kirana shops. As students form the majority in this area so there is almost every facility available to make life easy for them. The areas like Rajouri Garden, Saket, South Extension etc., all lie near it so during weekends or in free time you can easily visit these places or go for hangouts with your friends. The area also has many good coaching institutes like T.I.M.E, C.L. etc., so if someone is interested in preparing for further studies, he/she will find it easy to do that. There are many hang-outs and eat-outs available like QD's, CCD, Giani's, Dominos, etc. and these places are pretty good and worth it. The commute facilities are decent. The major options are buses and autos. During monsoon, the area gets filled with water and you may find accumulation of garbage at some places. It's a cool place to hang-out and live in!

I have started a Hyderabadi biryani joint venture and it's been three years that I have been staying in this area. This market has everything available. Everything is available at a better rate. Everything is available within a radius of five to ten kilometres. Hang out places such as Big Yellow Door is nearby. It's the best area to chill and make new friends. The market for poor to rich!

In & Around

Being in South Campus means being in the vicinity of one of the greatest finds of Delhi in the past few years – Hauz Khas Village. It also means you can quickly go and have a bite of Shahpur Jat’s Rainbow Bakery or the soul melting cheesecakes of Vasant Kunj markets. Aurobindo market and SDA market are always full of IITians, Qutub Institutional Area students and Delhi University peeps. There is a LOT to eat here.

Meet Shiva!

South Campus, New Delhi

I'm an Ex-student of Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University. I lived in a hostel for three years opposite Satya Niketan. I enjoy cricket, debates, piano, and table tennis.
